Introduction to Gel Printing
Printmaking on the Gel Plate
with Jennifer Love

COST: $100 including taxes
Fri, Mar 6
5:30pm-8:30pm
Printing with a gel plate often feels like it is in the realm of magic. It is a recent addition to the artist’s toolkit and is gaining traction as an essentially painterly method that allows for multiple yet unique prints from the same plate, without a press.
This three hour workshop is suitable for those new to Gelprinting as well as those who wish to refresh their basic skills in an atmosphere of exploration and discovery. We will cover the fundamentals - colour blending and gradations, creating textures, using masks and stencils, the use of different viscosity paints, building a composition and registering multiple layers.
Students will need to bring a gel plate or two (NB: not Speedball brand. Gelli Arts or Gel Press brand are good) . A supply list will be provided, plus Jennifer will also provide detailed class notes, sample binders/finished prints & collages for inspiration, and for use during the class: a wealth of textural materials, stencils and stamps, and extra paints.
